Episode 116 Matters of the Heart
Today's episode is personal for me. I want to frankly discuss things that children will not learn in school...things that they are banned from learning, but we MUST teach them. Last week's events are testimony to it...we have a heart problem in our society right now.

* Impact of Atheism and Agnosticism | 0:05:56 - 0:08:03 (127 Seconds)

As romans, we see an influx of more and more atheism and agnosticism, and we took God out of the picture a long time ago. I read a really daunting book a couple years ago, right after it came out. It's by Jonathan Cahn and it's called Return of the Gods. If you choose to read it, I'll just let you know ahead of time that it is very heavy, it's disturbing and it's dark, and I'd read a little bit at a time, and then I'd have to come up for air and not read it for a little while, because it is, it is, it's so heavy. And what he talks about is he talks about historically, throughout history, since the beginning of time, since going back almost to creation, that that people we, as humans, are, we worship god, right, um? And when the true and living god is replaced it, when, when we remove the true and living god from our hearts, uh, it is replaced by another god, and whether even those who are atheists, um, still worship something, uh, sometimes it's people worship their own brains or their own ideology. Sometimes they worship science, sometimes, you know, like it is, our hearts are prone to worship God. So when we remove God from our heart, it is replaced by something else. Anyway, and he goes over the history of different forms of worship and anyway, it's a heavy, heavy book. But that got me thinking.

* Parenting in a Secular Society | 0:13:02 - 0:15:29 (147 Seconds)

But the last couple months have brought me to my knees and it's reminded me that one of the beautiful things that I can do with my kids, that I am obligated to do with my kids, is to teach them about Christ, to teach them about salvation, to teach them about repentance, to teach them and not just teach them, but show them While they were in public school I was in competition with the school system. The secular ideology, the disdain for anything moral or religious, religious, was perpetually competed with the values and the religion and the faith that we try teaching in our home. It is in direct competition when we have bills passed to take 10 commandments out of schools and out of government buildings and out of the public square because it's offensive. Things like honor your father and mother don't kill. When things like that are offensive to people they don't know it's a matter of the heart. We've got a problem on our hands. Matter of the heart, we've got a problem on our hands. So I think I think one of the things that, as parents, we have to do is, once we've got our children's hearts back which again, I've got this workshop coming up and we're going to be talking about that how do we, what can we do? We're going to workshop it together. I've done a podcast episode on it. Right, we're going to go deeper into that. But one of the things that we have to do is we, we have to get back to the roots of what our country was founded on. What enabled a country to free people, a country to free people. We have to get back to that. These are the things that we have to teach them.

* Importance of Speaking Truth | 0:19:11 - 0:20:45 (94 Seconds)
0:19:11
We need to teach them to speak truth, even when it isn't popular. I've been amazed at the disdain that people, the comments that people have made to Charlie Kirk. Now, I learned from Todd Rose a few weeks ago that a minimum of 30% of comments on comment sections in online and on social media are bots paid for by somebody. So there's this idea of collective illusion that, um, that things aren't always as they appear. People don't always believe as much as we think, that, oh, far more people believe some of these ideologies than actually do because they're bots. Um, that make us believe that because of the amount of comments, right, and that's not necessarily accurate. Um, what one of the things I was dumbfounded about and I was like how many of these people are bots versus actual people who made comments about the hate speech of Charlie Kirk? Now, I know some of them are real because some of the people on my Facebook page that I'm friends with have said oh, he said hateful comments and I'm like he didn't. I listened to a lot of Charlie Kirk y'all and he spoke hard things. Um, truth is hard sometimes. Um, being told that we need to change and repent is hard. We don't want to admit our follies and sometimes that's hard and people are like that's hateful, noful, no, no, it's actually very loving to speak truth, to live in truth.

* Divine Messages Through Everyday Mediums | 0:21:59 - 0:23:36 (97 Seconds)
0:21:59
I was reminded of that I mentioned just a minute ago. I was reminded that God answers prayers and he answers in ways that we understand. He speaks our language, and I'm not talking about like English versus Spanish versus French. He speaks in ways that we will understand, in intimate ways that we'll understand. Sometimes it's through other people, sometimes it's through commercials or Instagram shorts, I don't know. A couple months ago, there was something that my husband and I had been on my husband and I's heart and something that I had prayed a lot about. And one day, this little Instagram short came on and my husband was scrolling Um and it's and he stopped dead in his tracks and he listened to this Instagram short, which led him to listening to this whole, to the whole, this whole podcast. I don't even remember the name of the podcast, but it was literally, um, an answer to prayers. This like little, this little clip that ended up. We ended up listening to the whole thing too, and and it was such a small thing, but he spoke in a way that we would understand, um, and he always makes lemonade, he'll take lemons and he'll take make lemonade. So last week, on Thursday, um, joshua left.

* Teaching Kids Without Secular Ideologies | 0:31:38 - 0:34:18 (160 Seconds)
0:31:38
So my message today is to turn to God. Turn to Him with our needs, turn to him about our kids. Teach them, teach our children. One of the blessings of homeschooling is that we can teach them without competing with secular ideologies that corrupt the soul, with ideas like there is no objective truth, there's no, there's no truth. Ideas like it's all about what you think and what you do, and with ideas like, um, you can decide your gender. We don't have to compete with things like that when we homeschool. We can teach them, not that they're not going to be exposed to things, because they will, they will, but we can teach them in a greenhouse where we can help them grow, where we can help them grow without having hailstorms rip them to shreds as tender, young little plants. I know a lot of homeschoolers come under contempt because people say, oh, you know, you shelter your kids, Y'all. Our kids live in the world. We can't keep them out of the world Like we're in it, but at least when we have them at home we don't have to compete with godless ideas that are destructive, that will destroy them. We don't have to compete with that, not as much. Next week I actually it's in a couple weeks I have a gentleman coming on. He's going to be talking about a thing called social engineering. He used to work for DreamWorks and and he's worked for studios and he'll be talking about, again, social engineering, what the, the industry does to manipulate our kids and us, and what he saw firsthand in the studios as he was working.
